General Members Meeting of BARN – January 2026

The General Members Meeting of BARN (Board of Airline Representatives Nepal) was successfully conducted on 2 January 2026 at Hyatt Centric, Kathmandu, in a celebratory spirit marking the beginning of 2026. The meeting formally welcomed the newly appointed Airline Managers of Air Arabia, Jazeera Airways, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Bhutan Airlines, SpiceJet, and SriLankan Airlines, while also bidding a warm farewell to the Manager of Singapore Airlines in recognition of his valuable contributions. The session was further enriched by the participation of representatives from the Nepal Tourism Board, along with BEED Management, who shared key insights and highlighted the strategic roadmap for Nepal Tourism Year 2026. Adding to the overall experience, participants were also offered a guided property tour by the venue partner, Hyatt Centric, fostering networking, engagement, and collaboration among members and industry stakeholders.

Interaction between BARN and NEFFA Office Bearers

On July 22, 2024, the Executive Committee Meeting of the Board of Airline Representatives of Nepal (BARN) and the Nepal Freight Forwarders Association (NEFFA) took place at the NAC Building in Kathmandu. Key discussions included the negative impact of a 2.5% TDS on air freight, a significant tax on cargo sales, and the timely issuance of invoices by airlines. Both associations agreed to jointly lobby the government to address these issues, implement agent filtering criteria, and explore stronger payment systems. They also committed to holding quarterly meetings to address ongoing concerns and improve the freight and aviation sectors in Nepal.

BARN Hosts First Quarterly Meeting for FY 2024-25

Board of Airline Representatives in Nepal Holds First Quarterly Meeting for FY 2024-25 Kathmandu, Nepal – June 7, 2024 – The Board of Airline Representatives in Nepal (BARN) convened its First Quarterly General Members Meeting for the fiscal year 2024-25 at the Varnabas Museum Hotel in Gairidhara, Kathmandu. The meeting, chaired by Mr. Tanka Nidhi Dahal, Marketing Director, Nepal Airlines brought together key airline representatives to discuss significant industry developments and strategic initiatives. Discussions at the meeting focused on common issues and agendas related to the Nepalese aviation industry. Major highlights included air ticket VAT, the partial closure of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for runway construction, and the upcoming BARN annual symposium. During the event, the newly elected Executive Committee and BARN Management Team were introduced, signaling a fresh chapter of leadership for the organization. Notably, Mr. Binod Abraham, Regional Manager of Fly Dubai, was appointed as BARN’s official speaker and will now participate in executive committee meetings. The meeting also saw the establishment of a new finance sub-committee. This committee, which includes finance representatives from each member airline, aims to address financial matters and support higher management through enhanced collaboration. The event concluded with a presentation by representatives of the Varnabas Museum Hotel and a cocktail dinner, promoting camaraderie among BARN members. The cocktail dinner was generously sponsored by the hotel.
